What is it about atheists and the need for stirring up trouble? In Utah, a state that was founded on the principles of religion, by a people who were persecuted for years are now getting beat-up once again. Interestingly enough, the Church of Latter Day Saints, or Mormons, do not use a cross as any portion of their religious beliefs or regalia.
This illustrates just how arrogant and selfish some people can be. In Utah, there are fourteen crosses that line the interstate network throughout the state—that are specifically—non-intrusive, or abusive by any means. These crosses mark the location of Utah's fallen State Troopers. Law enforcement officers who have given their lives (murdered) in the line of duty.
Enter the Atheists and one of their collective organizations, American Atheists Inc., decided that the crosses are not in alignment with the U.S. Constitution and they decided to sue to have the markers removed, arguing that the cross is a universal symbol of Christianity and, when placed on public property, illegal.
Needless to say the action instigated by this organization, vehemently outraged the families of the fallen; in addition, it swiftly spread throughout other law enforcement agencies and legislators. In fact, this action was deemed so petty and abusive that members of American Atheists In., have completely sought to disavow and dissociate themselves from the organization.
So what's up with these atheists's? Are they not getting enough attention in the main-stream media? Is it time for Elton John to write another "Levon"? You know the big 1970s hit that states:
"He was born a pauper to a pawn on a christmas day, When the new york times said God is dead…"
These atheists write, speak, and espouse that it is Christianity that comes knocking at their door, disturbs their peace, and invades their civil liberties. Who they are really talking about are the Jehovah's Witnesses and The Church of Latter Day Saints who, as far as Christianity is concerned, have very little, if not anything to do with Christ or his teachings.
During the late 1960s and 1970s America faced the ever zealous groups that espoused "God is Dead." Two very simple notions spark my interest as I hear these words and from whom they come:
On the one hand we have self-proclaimed folks who don't believe there is a divine presence on earth; moreover, there is no Grand Creator, all this stuff just happened who seem to know more than, "What if there is a God?"
On the other hand, why is it that world renowned anthropologist's have never discovered a tribe of atheists? Every single human development that contains a few or more people albeit, a group, a society, or a culture throughout history always has a form or forms of their deity or divine worship.
According to Mr. Thom Roberts, attorney for the defendants also argued that, since 11 of the 14 honored troopers were Mormons, members of a church that does not use the cross as a symbol of its beliefs, the monuments could hardly be considered a religious expression. "This is not about putting God back in the public space," Roberts says. "This is a memorial to officers who died in the line of duty."

Dear Anonymous:
Thank you very much for your comment. It is always nice when folks take the time to correspond about something that I have written.
But I really must come clean here insofar as I am having a difficult time seeing the relevance between what I wrote regarding Atheism and your reply vis-a-vie Jehovah's Witnesses.
Being as plain and as open as possible it is extremely important for all of us to understand that not all people who allege they are Christians, are in fact, Christians. Indeed Google Catholic's and Christian's and just wait for the hits!
The single biggest problem I can foresee—and most of claims have good merit—people who call themselves Christians most of the time are NOT what they claim. You see most of us who are believers in Christ, are far too humble to put up this pompous attitude. And finally, any time and in every circumstance that involves humankind, there will simply be nonsense or destruction of every sort. I have already received a load of responses from other Atheist's espousing, "please don't think that all Atheist's are involved with those organizations or are even like them…" Cheers and thanx again.
